This report focuses on eight fruit crops (apricot, avocado, mango, fig, litchi, peach, nectarine, and pistachio) and two vegetable crops (artichoke and sweet potato). The requirements for each crop including climate, soil and water are listed in Appendix I. Some of these crops (i.e. apricot, peach, nectarine, and pistachio) require a specific chilling period to stimulate fruiting. Since different varieties have different chilling requirements, care must be taken to select the right variety for each area according to their chill hours.

Στη μελέτη αυτή δίνονται κατευθυντήριες γραμμές ερμηνείας της ανάλυσης του αρδευτικού νερού, καθώς ο βαθμός στον οποίο η ποιότητα του αρδευτικού νερού επηρεάζει τη καλλιέργεια, το έδαφος και το αρδευτικό δίκτυο εξαρτάται και από παράγοντες όπως το κλίμα, το έδαφος, οι χρησιμοποιούμενες καλλιεργητικές τεχνικές, κατασκευαστικά στοιχεία του αρδευτικού δικτύου κ.α. Για παράδειγμα καλλιέργειες που αναπτύσσονται σε περιοχές με ήπιο κλίμα στηδιάρκεια του καλοκαιριού μπορούν να ανεχθούν υψηλότερη αλατότητα στο νερό άρδευσης σε σχέση με καλλιέργειες που αναπτύσσονται σε ξηρο

Εδώ και μεγάλο χρονικό διάστημα, αλλά ιδιαίτερα με τις σύγχρονες συνθήκες της αειφόρου ανάπτυξης, πολλές φορές έχει δημιουργηθεί για την ιλύ των αστικών λυμάτων το αυτονόητο ερώτημα: «πρόκειται για απόβλητο ή για λίπασμα»; Ακριβώς αυτός ο προβληματισμός [απόρριψη ή αξιοποίηση], αναφορικά με την επιβαλλόμενη διαχείριση της ιλύος των αστικών λυμάτων, αν δηλ. αυτή ενδείκνυται να χρησιμοποιηθεί ως απόβλητο, ή να αξιοποιηθεί ως λίπασμα, αποτελεί αντικείμενο του ανά χείρας Εγχειριδίου ορθής γεωργικής πρακτικής για την ενδεδειγμένη αξιοποίηση του υλικού αυτού.

ABSTRACT: The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the role of the US in the worldwide production and trade of pistachios, identify and estimate the major factors affecting export demand for US pistachios in 21 major markets, accounting for 78 percent of total US pistachio exports. The study estimated the impacts of US pistachio own price, cross price, importing markets’ GDP, real exchange rates and effect of food safety shocks. A panel data analysis was conducted using data from 1989 to 2009. A Houseman test indicated that the random effects estimator was the chosen estimator.
