From the AgroStrat actions, specific results implemented in ready-to-use practices are expected:
- Recording and evaluation of environmental status of the pilot area. Identification and assessment of any potential adverse effects (phyto-toxicity, potential contamination of soils and groundwater).
- Software development/Inventory of the pilot area on the web site of the project.
- Questionnaire to be distributed to pistachio producers and owners of the processing plants in Aegina island, in other Greek areas and in other pistachio producer Mediterranean countries (Italy, Cyprus, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey - in appropriate languages e.g. Greek, English, Italian, Spanish and French).
- Soil and water sampling strategy and soil monitoring system.
- Soil Indicators that are required to reliably detect degradation due to pistachio cultivation and contamination due to disposal of pistachio waste
- Four field equipments for measurement of soil pH, moisture and electrical conductivity and guidelines for their use and maintenance.
- Environmental risk assessment regarding water bodies in the pilot area
- Definition of the optimum procedures for the production of pistachio compost-Quality tests.
- Guidelines for composting pistachio wastes and use in P. vera L. and vegetables cultivation.
- Evaluation of effects of pistachio compost application on different Greek soils.
- A GIS-based Land Information System to assist decision making on land suitability of pistachio wastes application. Instructions for the development of similar GIS-LIS tools for the application of recycled organic wastes in other EU and Med countries.
- Characterization of treated and untreated pistachio wastes regarding their composition and suitability for agricultural use.
- Monitoring tool (software package) for the farmers – Manual in Greek and in English
- Monitoring tool (software package) for the management centre – Manual in Greek and in English
- Sustainable cultivation of P.vera L. under Mediterranean climatic conditions-Integrated Management Plan
- Field composting-Guidelines for pistachio farmers
- Best Practices for sustainable P. vera L. cultivation and resources management”, a guide for pistachio farmers.
- Scientific, technical and economical evaluation of pilot activities implementation.
- Terms, conditions and requirements for the transfer of the developed technologies and methodologies to regional/national/transnational scale.
- Finalized Central Management Monitoring Tool installation (as an .exe file). User manual (in Greek and in English).
- Development and Implementation of a Central Monitoring System for continuous monitoring of intensively cultivated areas by local/regional authorities (in Greek and in English).
- A set of indicators to monitor the state of the environment at intensively cultivated Mediterranean areas: The example of Pistachio vera L. cultivation.
- Evaluation of environmental indicators-Assessment of the extent of environment quality improvement due to the implementation of the integrated management plan at P.vera L. cultivation in Mediterranean areas.
- LCA study including system boundaries in each case selected for demonstration activities.
- Risk Analysis including the most important parameters involved in LCA studies. Risk map of the pilot area.
- Methodology for identification of carbon footprint (through evaluation of existing methodologies).
- A set of indicators to monitor the socio-economic impact of the project at intensively cultivated Mediterranean areas: The example of Pistachio vera L. cultivation.
- Effect of integrated management plan on the socio-economic status of Mediterranean countries where P.vera L. is intensively cultivated. (Report)
- A Simplified Report for policy makers including evaluated environmental and socio-economic indicators (in Greek and in English)
- A well designed web site and blog which will include also partners’ area.
- An inventory with project’s results for pilot island (Aegina) and for the four demonstration areas hosted in the web site of the project. Thematic geo-environmental maps of the pilot area and available maps of other areas in Greece and/or in the Mediterranean region where P.vera L. is intensively cultivated.
- An active network between scientific/research; industry/market and policy makers communities.
